Borderlands 2 Mechanics Ideas 2

Weapon Attachments Mechanic

As in most modern shooters out in the current market, attachments is a mechanic which players can add to their weapons to make the gun more usable to situations they enter. I want something similar to be in Borderlands 2. Adjusting the limitation of what the gun can do, you can change the practicalities of the weapon and adjust certain elements.
Following similar games attachments, the game will also get affected by the rarity system in the game. The rarer the attachment is, the more professional it'll look. The less rare, the more make-shift it'll look. This factor affecting all of the attachments throughout the game.
As there are different classes of weapons in the game, obviously some of the attachments won't apply to them to certain guns can’t have certain attachments. The weapon classes are:
· Pistols (Repeater Pistols and Revolvers included)
· Sub-machine Guns
· Combat Rifles (Full Auto Machine Guns included)
· Shotguns
· Sniper Rifles
· Rocket Launchers
· Eridian Weapons (these are then sub-classed into the 6 above, so there’s eridian snipers, shotguns etc)
List of attachments that I have ideas of are:
· Mount- Decreases recoil and increases accuracy. But decreases speed of the player due to the added weight. Jump height is also affected. When crouching, the player will have a much better accuracy. (Combat Rifles & Sniper Rifles only)
· Grip - Increases the accuracy and aim of the weapon.
· Flashlight - Can be used as an attachment for dark places. Creates another light source for players to use (can toggle on & off)
· Laser Designator - with these attached players can lock onto enemies after having the laser sight on them for a period of time.
· FMJ - increases the damage of the weapon it’s attached to.
· Extended Mags - Increases ammo capacity
·Scopes/ Zooms (Different zooms (4%, 12% etc)) (Can't be attached to snipers or weapons with zoom scopes already on (unless this is an attachment placed on the weapon pre-set))
· Silencer - When shooting with it, it takes the enemies a period of time length longer to locate where there getting shot from. Giving more time to deal damage as an effect.
· Reload "LULA" - Decreases reload time
· Sights - Can attach this to any of the weapons (unless there is already a sight on the weapon (unless this is an attachment not part of the weapon))
· Launchers - This actually sprays out a certain amount of an element to cause damage to the players. Player needs to reload this quite often as it runs out pretty quickly but the can shoot out a spray of the elemental fluid dealing a set amount of overall damage.
